General & Laparoscopic Surgery
Surgery is a medical procedure that involves the removal or repair of tissues or organs in the body. There are two main types of surgery: general surgery and laparoscopic surgery.
General surgery is a type of surgery that involves the treatment of a wide range of conditions and diseases that affect the organs in the abdomen, including the stomach, liver, intestines, and gallbladder. General surgeons also perform surgery on the thyroid gland, breasts, and skin.
During a general surgery procedure, the surgeon makes an incision in the skin to access the affected area. The incision may be large or small, depending on the type of surgery being performed. After the surgery, the incision is closed with stitches or staples.
Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery, is a type of surgery that uses small incisions and specialized instruments to access the affected area. During laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon makes several small incisions in the abdomen. After that, one of the incisions is used to implant a laparoscope, a short tube with a light and camera at one end. The laparoscope allows the surgeon to see inside the body and perform the surgery using small instruments inserted through the other incisions.
